Wimbledon has the Centre Court and also the Theatre, where I first appeared in the pre-West End run of A Scent of Flowers. I shared a dressing room with the late Peter Howell. There we were by the stage door, enjoying the late summer sun after a Wednesday matinée in 1964. Yesterday I was back on location at Wimbledon Theatre, by the same distinctive brick wall, after my first day filming Patrick Marber's screenplay The Critic.
